is primarily designed to establish the Greater Houston Community Foundation as a thought leader and facilitator on critical and/or emerging community issues. The Knowledge Center conducts community research, manages information and publishes relevant reports that can help guide our donor families and the philanthropic sector in making strategic funding decisions.
During 2007, funding from Motiva and other community resources will be used to create and support a vibrant social and economic development foundation for the Port Arthur community. An initial endowment gift of $2 million has been committed by Motiva to this effort. Through professional third party facilitation and coordination, an effective governance and steering committee structure becomes a strong collaborative effort to implement the vision, mission, and focused program of work for vibrant economic and social development.
A community based advisory task force and a formalized steering committee will hold themselves accountable for good stewardship and focus on the best use of the foundation resources to enhance social and economic development in the Port Arthur Community.
